I think today a crisis of identity became the constant condition for each nation, each people. This especially accounts for Germany. If I walk through a german city today, Berlin for example, it comes to my mind, that this city has nothing in common but the name with the one which was called Berlin before the war. Probably this correlates to the destruction, but in any case the city today is a space without memory. This fact eventually results in the urge for the huge amount of memorials. (orginal in german)
